Steps to Keep Your Floor Clean:

  • Daily – Sweep with a broom or dust mop or even vacuum using the bare floor setting to remove dust and dirt

  • Weekly – Sweep or vacuum using the bare floor setting

  • Monthly – Clean with wood floor cleaner

  • After we finish working on your floor, we GIFT you a BONA Cleaning kit to get you started. If you want additional floor cleaner, products available in stores like Target and Wal-Mart will work fine.

  • Every 3-5 years, re-coat the top coat on your floor – we can do this for you.

  • Every few decades, if you are able to – sand and refinish – we can do this for you.

What Not To Do:

  • DO NOT use wet mops or steam mops

  • DO NOT use vinyl or tile cleaning products

  • DO NOT use self-polishing acrylic waxes

  • DO NOT use wood furniture polish

  • DO NOT over-wax a wood floor

You are going to spill on your floor – DONT WORRY!

  • If you are able to, simply wiping up the spill will work.
  • Vacuum around the spill in the cracks to make sure no mold grows in-between them.
  • If it is a coffee or wine spill, try and wipe up the liquid. Then mix 1 /2 cup of vinegar with a gallon of water. Don’t pour the mixture directly on the floor, but rather put the solution on a rag and wipe up the spill with the mixture.
  • If it continues to stain, call a hardwood flooring contractor, and we can talk to you about your other options. We can sand and stain the spot on the floor or replace that board, depending on your situation.
