Solid wood flooring can be used in any room that is on or above ground but installed over plywood. Its made of one piece of wood from top to bottom. A benefit of solid wood flooring is it can be sanded and refinished many times as long as the wear layer is thick enough to sand.

Engineered wood floors are also made of real wood, but include multiple layers, with the top layer made of high-quality wood. Because engineered wood floors expand and contract less than solid wood flooring, real wood surface (about 4mm in thickness) is applied to the top to allow it to be sanded and refinished a certain number of times to remove signs of damage, wear, and tear.

Cork is a reducing noise type of floor. It could be a softer fall for elderly people or children. It is hypo-allergenic and resistant to insects.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is an affordable waterproof wood-look flooring option that has great warmth and texture underfoot and installs with peel-and-stick, glue-down, or click-together ease.
